President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has described Saudi Arabia as an important contributor to the socio-economic development of the Maldives.
The President made the remarks in a message marking Saudi Arabia’s 96th National Day.
In a post shared on social media the President extended his felicitations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Royal family, Government and the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The President stated that the Maldives and Saudi Arabia have maintained close ties, being united by the holy religion of Islam. The President thanked Saudi Arabia for their continued support to the Maldives.
The President shared that he is confident that the bonds of friendship, solidarity, cooperation between the two countries would continue to flourish in the years ahead.
To conclude his message the President prayed for Saudi Arabia’s prosperity and tranquillity in the years ahead.
Saudi Arabia has maintained close ties with the Maldives for a long time and has provided the Maldives with assistance in many sectors.
In this regard the Saudi government has facilitated easier arrangements for Maldivians undertaking Hajj and has aided in further advocating for religious affairs in the Maldives. Saudi Arabia has also provided financial assistance for the socio-economic development of the Maldives.
