According to statistics released by Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), the sea to air cargo services had transported 394.53 tonnes or 89 TEU’s to 12 countries in August.
The statistics released by MPL stated that partnerships with five different airlines were used for these services. The airlines include:
• Turkish Airlines
• Air Arabia
• Etihad Airways
• Qatar Airways
• Swiss Airlines
The sea to air cargo services were provided by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) in collaboration with MPL. The services began in May 2024. As many airlines traverse top the Maldives, the Maldivian Government believes that Maldives could further expand and advance these services.
Sea to air cargo transshipments is a globally utilised service that allowed many countries to further advance and expand their economies.
