The Education Ministry has announced the fulfilment of the government’s pledge to provide free preschool education across the country.
It was officially announced at a ceremony held Tuesday night at Dharubaaruge.
Early childhood education has now been introduced in all state-run schools across the country as per the government’s pledge, the ministry said.
Preschool education was earlier provided by privately-run schools and institutions.
The President pledged in 2015 to provide free preschool education across the country, which was followed by the introduction of early childhood education in all schools, expect those in Malé City and Addu City.
