President Yameen condemns attack on Makkah

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of solidarity to King of Saudi Arabia, Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud condemning the ballistic missile attack on the holy city of Makkah by the Houthi militia.

In his message, the President said it was with deep shock and anger that he learnt of the ballistic missile attack on the holy city of Makkah by the Houthi militia, targeting innocent people in Saudi Arabia and the greater Muslim Ummah. The Government and the people of Maldives are profoundly concerned and disturbed by this news, and condemn this heinous act of terror and hostility in the strongest terms, he said.

The message further said: “The Maldives remains fully committed to the fight against terrorism and will continue to work closely with the Government of Saudi Arabia and the international community in eliminating this global threat.”

The President also expressed the Government and the people of Maldives’ firm solidarity with Saudi Arabia, and in all its efforts in maintaining peace and security in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East region.
