Maldives, India, Sri Lanka conclude joint naval exercise

The Maldives, India and Sri Lanka have concluded the 13th joint naval exercise. The trilateral exercise, titled “Dosti”, was held from October 25 to 28.

Coast guard and navy vessels from three countries participated in the exercise. Indian Coast Guard Ship Samudra Pavak and Sri Lankan Coast Guard Ship Sagara that took part in the exercise left the Maldives on Saturday.

The exercises were focused on Maritime Search and Rescue, Marine Pollution Response and Boarding Operations.

Dosti is conducted with the aim of “strengthening bonds of friendship and enhancing mutual operational capability and cooperation.

It commenced as a bilateral exercise between India and Maldives in 1991, with the objective of strengthening co-operation between the countries, and Sri Lanka joined the exercises in 2012.
