The Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources, together with the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy met with sea cucumber exporters to discuss the implementation of the Non-Detriment Finding (NDF) for CITES-listed amberfish sea cucumber and the requirements for facilitating its export.
Amberfish sea cucumber is among the species subject to international trade controls under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), meaning exporters must obtain the necessary permits before the species can be exported.
The consultation focused on the implementation of the NDF for CITES-listed amberfish sea cucumber and the requirements exporters must fulfil to facilitate its export.
The discussions also focused on ensuring that international trade is conducted in compliance with CITES requirements, while establishing a clear and practical process for exporters and supporting the sustainable management of the resource.
The ministries also shared important information with exporters on the requirements and procedures involved in obtaining the necessary permits and licences for the export of amberfish sea cucumber.
