Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage Heena Waleed has said seminars like the series “Ahuliha Nakathuge Sinthaa” help youth and students learn more about Maldivian nationality, history, and heritage.
Speaking to PSM News after participating in the latest session of the seminar, Heena said the event provides useful information for students, researchers, historians, and those interested in learning about national identity. She said efforts have been made through research to provide accurate information related to patriotism and national history.
Ahmed ‘Kashima’ Shakir, a senior citizen involved in organising the event said the seminars have received a positive public response as they share heritage, language, and nationality-related knowledge through experts.
The latest seminar featured a presentation of research conducted by Maldives National Defence Force’s Command Sergeant Major Abdulla Saeed on the independence of Maldives, including the Maldives’ historical defence systems and changes to it over the years. He also discussed occasions when Maldives lost its independence from a military perspective. His research also included a comparison of historical and modern Maldivian military.
The seminars are part of the government’s efforts to promote awareness of Maldivian nationality, history, and heritage and pass down accurate information.
