TCL assigns contractors to Thilafushi Access Road project

Thilafushi Corporation Ltd. (TCL) on Sunday signed agreements with three companies to develop the “Thilafushi Access Road”.

Components of the project were contracted to Amin Construction Pvt. Ltd., Malé Water and Sewerage Company Ltd. (MWSC) and State Electric Company Ltd. (STELCO).

The project, undertaken as part of the Thilafushi Development project, will see development of a road linking Thilafushi-one with the Thilafushi Industrial Zone (TIZ), and connection of power and water services.

Speaking at a function held Sunday to award the contracts, Fisheries Minister Dr. Mohamed Shainee highlighted the importance of the Thilafushi Industrial Zone for the development of the country.

He said the project was vital part of the Thilafushi Development project and it would bring immense ease to businesses operating out of the industrial zone.

Managing Director of Thilafushi Corporation Ahmed Nasif said the connection of Thilafushi-one with the newly developed TIZ would pave the way for the lease of additional land plots for commercial purposes.

The TIZ is established on 22 hectares of newly reclaimed land.

The Government established the state-owned Thilafushi Corporation in 2009 to oversee management and development of the industrial zone.
