Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) announced Saturday that it had completed all groundwork of the harbour development project of Fainu Island of Raa Atoll.
Technical Executive, Projects Department at MTCC – Ahmed Latheef, said that following completion of all works, the harbour has now been handed over to the Housing Ministry.
President of Fainu Council Ibrahim Nasir cited that the project saw the development of a 350 foot long, 200 foot wide harbour. “To see the development of a modern harbour had been a dream of the residents of the island, with a population of 440,” he added.
The project, funded by the Government, cost over MVR30 million, and was contracted to MTCC in late-2014.
