Bank of Maldives (BML) on Monday opened a self-service banking ATM in Dhuvaafaru Island, Raa Atoll.
The bank said “in addition to the usual cash withdrawal facilities, the new ATM will support local individuals and businesses to deposit and transfer money on a 24/7 basis.”
The ATM was officially inaugurated by Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed at a ceremony held in the island.
The Dhuvaafaru ATM is part of the bank’s MVR300 million investment programme to expand banking services and financial inclusion across the country, it said.
Speaking at the ceremony, CEO and Managing Director of BML Andrew Healy said: “the bank was delighted to launch this state-of-the-art Self-Service Banking ATM in Dhuvaafaru adding that it marks another important step in the ongoing investment program that is benefiting individuals, businesses and communities right across the country.”
Bank of Maldives has been expanding its presence nationwide, with the opening of a number of new branches and Self-Service Banking Centres.
The bank currently has a nationwide network of 29 branches across all 20 atolls, 76 ATMs, 3,900 Point of Sale merchants, 177 cash agents, 16 Self Service Banking Centres and 5 Dhoni Banking Units, as well as a full suite of Digital and Online Banking Services.
