Pakistani Senate Chairman meets President

The visiting Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, Raja Rabbani on Monday met with President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

During the meeting held Monday morning at the President’s Office, the President welcomed the Chairman to the Maldives and expressed that the Maldives have always enjoyed warm and cordial relations with Pakistan based on mutual understanding and shared values. Furthermore, the President recalled the generous assistance from Pakistan to build the People’s Majlis building, which stands tall as an example to the existing brotherly relations between the two countries.

The President and the Chairman further discussed on areas of cooperation between the two countries, and expressed hope in the continued exchanges between the People’s Majlis of Maldives and the Senate of Pakistan.

The Chairman conveyed appreciation for the warm welcome in the Maldives and expressed his confidence that the relations between the Maldives and Pakistan would grow from strength to strength in the future. Furthermore, the Chairman commended the leadership of the President and his vision for economic development of the Maldives. He also commended the Government of Maldives for the country’s rapidly growing economy and its high level of development, and expressed hope that the entrepreneurs, businesses and investors of Pakistan would explore the plentiful investment opportunities available in the Maldives.

The President was accompanied at the call by Speaker of the People’s Majlis, Abdullah Maseeh Mohamed; Deputy Speaker of the People’s Majlis, Moosa Maniku; Minister of State for Foreign Relations at the President’s Office, Mohamed Naseer; Secretary General of the People’s Majlis, Ahmed Mohamed and Counsel General of the Secretariat of the People’s Majlis, Fathimath Filza.
