Zakat House has revised the list of documents required to apply for 2026 higher‑education scholarship programme, offering a total of 30 scholarships – 10 for study within the Maldives and 20 for study abroad.
The scheme targets Maldivian students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, with special emphasis on Islamic disciplines.
A notable revision to the application requirements concerns the placement‑letter document. Students whose intended programme is required by the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) to have a placement letter are no longer required to attach the letter to the scholarship application form at the time of submission. However, once a placement offer is received, applicants must obtain the letter from the MQA and forward it to Zakat House as soon as possible.
The scholarship catalogue includes dedicated slots for Master’s and PhD programmes in Islamic Sharia, Quranic Studies, Islamic Education, Islamic Studies and Publications, Islamic Journalism, Aqeedah, Fiqh, Usul al‑Fiqh, and Islamic Leadership and Management. Applicants may also request funding for other fields, provided they can demonstrate how their chosen area will contribute to the growth and development of the Maldives’ Islamic community.
In addition to the main scholarship, Zakat House has introduced two special scholarship tracks—five stipended scholarships for Maldivian students currently enrolled in Saudi Arabia and Egypt along with five training scholarships aimed at female doctors seeking specialised training in women’s health‑related fields.
All interested candidates must submit their completed application forms by 2:00 pm on 16 July.
