Initial training launched for third batch of National Service

The Initial Training for the third batch of the National Service has been officially launched.

The programme was inaugurated by Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy at the Maafilaafushi Composite Training Centre. A total of 352 cadets are participating, from 112 islands, including 288 males and 64 females. The programme runs for 15 weeks.

The oath for instructors was administered by the National Service Initial Training Centre’s Chief Instructor, Captain Mohamed Husham Moosa while the cadets’ oath was taken by Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Shahid.

The programme is part of a national initiative led by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to build a disciplined and responsible youth population with values including Islamic principles. Training components include character development and behavioural activities, first aid, firefighting, self-defence, camp activities, and basic military orientation.

Graduates will receive multiple certifications, including National Service Initial Training completion certificate, Civil Education and Leadership Certificate, Community Volunteer Firefighter Certificate, Basic First Aid Certificate and Peer Education Training certification.
