The 2nd meeting of the Maldives-Thailand Joint Trade Committee commenced in Malé City on Wednesday.
Trade ministers of both countries will attend the second day of the two-day meeting.
Thailand’s Minister of Commerce Apiradi Tantraporn arrived Wednesday to participate in the JTC ministerial meeting. He is accompanied by a business delegation from Thailand.
The first meeting of the Joint Trade Commission, established under an agreement on trade and economic cooperation between Thailand and the Maldives, was held in 2013.
Speaking about the meeting, Director at the Ministry of Economic Development Ahmed Ifthikhaaru said discussions on further strengthening trade relations between the two countries and facilitating investments would take place during the meeting being held at Hotel Jen.
A special session is scheduled to be held at Dharubaaruge Wednesday where 30 exporters from Thailand would showcase their products.
Interested Maldivian businesses can now register to meet the Thai delegation while details of the exporters and the products they export have been made available on the Economic Ministry’s website www.trade.gov.mv
