MPL confirms resolution of shipping disruptions on Colombo route

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has said the difficulties in transporting goods from Colombo Port have now been resolved.

Earlier in the year, delays in unloading at Male’ Commercial Harbour led to congestion, resulting on around 4,200 containers being stranded at Colombo Port in Sri Lanka. The disruption was linked to the Middle East war affecting shipping.

The Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade worked with relevant authorities to speed up clearance and movement of certain goods to prevent market shortages and to ensure the uninterrupted supply of essential goods.

According to MPL, the coordinated efforts have now resolved all issues relating to the shipments stranded in Colombo.
