President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on Tuesday sent his condolences to the family of Maldivian music legend, the late Ahmed Nashid.
The President noted that the late Ahmed Nashid’s passing was a great loss to the music industry, and especially to Maldivian music. The President also underscored that the late Ahmed Nashid’s invaluable services to the Maldivian music industry over the years, were admired by all Maldivian youth, and especially by those in the music industry.
The late Ahmed Nashid began his musical career while studying at Majeediyya School. In 1990, he received the National Award of Recognition for his services to the music industry. His innovative music which showcases Maldivian culture, has garnered much attention in the Maldives and abroad. The late Ahmed Nashid has performed at numerous music shows abroad, and achieved a number of international awards.
