President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed the Minister of Economic Development, Transport and Trade, Mohamed Saeed as the official head of Hajj pilgrims, or Ameerul Hajj of 2026.
Each year, the head of affairs for Hajj pilgrims is nominated by the President.
All Hajj pilgrims from the Maldives have now departed to Saudi Arabia. They travelled on four flights, two via Maldivian and two via Saudi Arabian airlines.
The Saudi Arabian government has set a quota of 1,000 Maldivian pilgrims for Hajj pilgrimage per year. The Maldives Hajj Mission and Maldives Hajj Corporation Limited work together to facilitate smooth Hajj arrangements for all worshippers.
