Work begins to resolve electricity issues in Hithadhoo

State-owned utility FENAKA Corporation Ltd. said Saturday that work had commenced to resolve electricity problems in Hithadhoo Ward of Addu City.

Managing Director Ahmed Shareef said 2 two-megawatt generator sets would soon be transported to Hithadhoo whose electricity service is currently managed by State Electric Company Ltd. STELCO.

He said that “STELCO is currently working on shipping the generator sets to Hithadhoo and it will be followed by work to install them.”

“The two new generators will be installed with a seawater cooling system which is currently under development,” he added.

He further said that “electricity problems faced in Hithadhoo will be solved with the installation of the new generator sets.”

The company is also working on establishing the sewerage network of Hithadhoo, of which 61% of the work is now complete.

In addition to this, the company is also working on developing the water supply system in the other wards of the city.  

According to the company, it is currently working on connecting the household to the new systems.
