Flight bookings to India rise ahead of school holidays

National carrier Maldivian said Saturday that it had seen a significant rise in demand for tickets to destinations in India ahead of the annual school holidays.

Managing Director of Island Aviation Services Ltd. Abdul Haris told PSM News that “over 80% of tickets for the scheduled flights for the holiday season to destinations in India have already been fully booked.”

“We plan to increase the number of flights with respect to the increase in demand in the holiday season, which falls in November and December,” he added.

Maldivian currently operates flights to Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai in India, in addition to Dhaka, Bangladesh, Bangkok in Thailand and six destinations in China.
