National Quran Recitation Competition to begin Sunday night

The 31st National Quran Recitation Competition is set to commence Sunday tonight with 183 contestants from Malé and the atolls.

This is the first time the competition is divided into male and female categories. Unlike previous years, this year the competition will not have any age limits.

The competition, held annually since 1981, is aimed at instilling love for Quran among people of all ages.

Contestants representing atoll and city councils, and religious NGOs are vying in this year’s competition which will be held at the Islamic Centre in Malé.
