A project to redevelop the roads of Malé City is set to commence tomorrow, Housing Ministry said.
In the ongoing efforts to revamp the cityscape of Malé City, the government on Wednesday announced the work schedule for the road redevelopment project.
Under the project, damaged roads will be resurfaced and a proper drainage system will be installed to prevent flooding caused by heavy rain.
According to the Ministry, the roads to be revamped under the project are; Majeedhee Magu, Lily Magu, Ameenee Magu, Kambaa Aisaa Rani Hingun, Chaandhanee Magu, Orchid Magu, Lonuziyaaraiiy Magu, Haveeree Hingun, Handhuvaree Hingun, Ameeru Ahmed Magu, Buruzu Magu, and Izzuddin Magu.
As per the work schedule, Majeedhee Magu will be the first road to get a makeover, and it will be completed by February 4th.
Under the project, the government also plans to establish a fire hydrant mechanism and ease access to roads for people with disabilities.
The project, which is expected to be completed in September 2018, will alleviate difficulties faced by pedestrians and motorists, and make the roads more accessible and safe for everyone, the Ministry said.
