MQA warns unaccredited courses invalid under new guidelines

The Maldives Accreditation Authority (MQA) has urged higher education institutions to accredit their programmes in line with the updated Programme Accreditation Guidelines, warning that non-compliant courses will be deemed invalid.

In a statement, the authority said institutions are required to seek re-accreditation for previously approved programmes under the revised framework.

However, several institutions have yet to apply for accreditation under the new guidelines. The authority noted that despite attempts to engage with these institutions through meetings, only a limited number have responded.

Around 30 institutions have also been unreachable via email or telephone, according to the statement.

The authority has instructed such institutions to submit the required information to the Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA) by 31 May.

MQA warned that programmes not accredited under the new guidelines will be cancelled from 22 October 2027 if approval is not obtained within the stipulated timeframe.
