MCS concludes training on prescription drug abuse prevention

Maldives Customs Service on Thursday concluded a programme to train law enforcement officers on prescription drug abuse prevention.

The two-day training programme, titled “National Training for Law Enforcement Officers of Maldives on Pharmaceutical Drugs”, was conducted in association with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC).

According to Maldives Customs Service, the purpose of the programme was train officers to identify ways to determine the rates of misuse and abuse of prescription drugs in the country and over challenges faced in tackling the problem.

According to the agency, the programme was attended by officials from Maldives Police Service, Maldives National Defense Force, Maldives Food and Drug Authority and National Drug Agency.
