Minister of Tourism Moosa Zameer said Wednesday that “the country needs adopt new innovative ways to promote its tourism in order to maintain its high reputation.”
He made the remarks speaking at the opening ceremony of the Conference on Destination Marketing and Promotion which was held as part of the activities to mark World Tourism Day.
The conference held at Dharubaaruge Convention Centre in Male’ City was the largest such event to be held in the country.
Representatives from over 150 tourism companies and organisations attended the conference.
Minister Zameer said “the Maldives have achieved great accomplishments in as a tourist destinations and that the country is amongst the finest in the world.”
“The country needs new strategies and ideas to maintain these high standards,” he added.
According to the Tourism Ministry, international experts in the field of tourism marketing and promotion delivered presentations at the conference.
