The President’s Office said on Sunday that it had requested the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and Adhaalath Party for details of those who would represent them at the all-party talks.
The talks were initiated by the administration in the interest of progress, development and national unity, the office said in a statement.
“While once again reflective to broader national interests and the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG)’s statement, the administration stressed the vital importance of all parties initiating, and engaging in, dialogue without any pre-conditions,” the statement read.
The Government also expressed continued disappointment over MDP and Adhaalath Party’s previous rejections to attend all-party talks.
The President’s Office further said “MDP and Adhaalath Party have been specifically requested to present details of their representatives in the all-party talks as they were the only parties who have not yet done so despite several previous requests.”
Meanwhile, the MDP National Council is set to meet Monday night to decide its representatives for the talks.
