The 3rd Maldives Institutional Investment Seminar commenced in Male’ City on Sunday.
The seminar is organised by the Maldives Pension Administration Office and the Privatisation and Corporatisation Board in association with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the seminar held at Hotel Jen on Sunday, CEO of the Maldives Pension Administration Office Mohamed Hussain Manik said “the seminar is aimed at providing state-owned enterprises and private sector companies information on seeking long-term finance from the Pension Fund through the financial markets in the Maldives.” “The Pension Office is always striving to maximize profits for the fund and its members,” he said.
At the seminar, Senior Capital Market Advisor of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Jim Turnbull spoke about raising finance through capital market and the role of state-owned enterprises in the capital market development. During his presentation, Turnbull shared a case study on local capital market development.
This year’s seminar is attended by representatives from banks, audit firms, law firms, government offices, and several state-owned and private companies.
