Creator hub set to transform services for creative businesses

The government is advancing a flagship initiative to strengthen the national creative economy through the construction of the Creator Hub, a major project led by the Business Center Corporation (BCC). Scheduled to open on 11 November, the completion and inauguration date was set out by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu in his annual Presidential Address to Parliament on 5 February. Construction began in March 2024, and when complete, the eleven-storey building will span 1,500 square feet, offering accessible workspaces and essential resources for creative professionals.

Mohamed Eeman Ahmed, Director of Investment and International Relations at BCC, told PSM News that about 90 percent of the structural framework is complete. He noted that the eighth floor has been finalised, with crews now advancing work on the ninth. Stressing the administration’s commitment to the timeline, Eeman said the development team is working to meet the president’s targeted inauguration date. The facility is expected to serve as a central nexus for small enterprises, consolidating critical services in one location.

Eeman described the strategic vision, stating, “This building is uniquely designed and structured to provide dedicated opportunities and tailored services for creators, aligning directly with the president’s policy mandate to establish a robust creative economy within the Maldives.”

He added, “Alongside these specialised offerings, the comprehensive suite of services provided by the Business Center Corporation will also be seamlessly integrated and available from within the premises.” He concluded, “Consequently, the facility will function as a dynamic operational hub for small enterprises, ensuring that both creative professionals and other commercial businesses will derive substantial benefits from the space.”

The creator hub will feature studio spaces, practice rooms, and recording and editing suites, enabling professionals to complete their work under one roof. In a strategic consolidation, the BCC will relocate its primary operations to the new building, asserting that the project will establish a highly supportive environment for businesses nationwide.
