Maldives condemns attack on Kashmir base

The Government of Maldives on Monday condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack on the Army Base in Uri in Kashmir, India, on Sunday, killing 17 soldiers and injuring many more.

In a statement, the Government said terrorism is a threat to regional and international peace, security, and democracy, and the Maldives has always condemned international terrorism, especially those originating from outside, defeating and eliminating which requires international collaboration and cooperation in good faith.

It further said Maldives remains with the Government and people of India in the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

In concluding the statement, the Government and the people of Maldives extended sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families and profound sympathies to the Government and the people of India at this time of national grief.
