Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Wang Fukang on Monday pledged to assist the Maldives in the development of its decentralised governance system.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Home Minister and President of the Local Government Authority – LGA, Azleen Ahmed.
Home Minister Azleen Ahmed briefed Ambassador Wang Fukang on LGA’s efforts towards the development of the system through orientation programmes for council members and public awareness campaigns.
Ambassador Fukang pledged to provide technical assistance to further enhance decentralised governance in the Maldives, and opportunity to explore China’s local governance system.
At the meeting, Minister Azleen also thanked Ambassador Fukang for China’s unwavering support for the Maldives, especially in areas of economics and trade, and infrastructure development.
