MPL clears 480 tonnes of perishable goods ahead of Ramadan

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has cleared 480 tonnes of perishable goods from the Male’ Commercial Harbour in preparation for Ramadan.

According to MPL, two vessels carrying additional perishable goods are currently at the harbour area, and all goods are expected to be cleared by midnight on 18 February.

The import of perishable goods, including vegetables, fruits, fresh meat, and other quickly perishable food items increases to coincide with Ramadan. While MPL is working to ensure timely availability of these products for the public, the company said 13,113 packages of perishable food, equivalent to 480 tonnes, had been cleared by noon on 17 February.

MPL has announced its clearance service hours for Ramadan. Loading and unloading of goods from vessels, and container shifting services will be provided between 09:00 am and 04:00 pm and again from 9:00 pm to 01:30 am on all days except Fridays. On Friday, the service will be available from 09:00 pm to 01:30 am. Assignment for clearance will be from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm on all days except Fridays.

MPL has also announced container clearance limit, with 150 20-foot containers to be cleared daily on all days except Fridays. Online shifting requests will be accepted from 10:00 am to 9:00 am the next day on all days except Friday. Normal Express applications will be accepted between 8:30 pm and 10:30 am the next day daily except Fridays, while Daily Express applications from 9:15 am to 1:00 pm daily except Fridays through the MyBandharu Portal.
