Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC), in partnership with the International Halal Tourism Organization Maldives (IHTO), has taken part in the Muslim Travel Show 2026, held at London’s ExCeL Centre from the 7th to the 8th of February.
The event, Europe’s leading exhibition for the Muslim travel market, brought together more than two hundred exhibitors, offering a key platform to engage with high-spending travellers and international tourism stakeholders.
VMC’s participation formed part of a broader strategy to strengthen the Maldives’ presence within the global halal tourism sector. The initiative aimed to enhance destination visibility, ensure consistent international branding, and position the Maldives as a recognised and credible choice for Muslim travellers.
Officials engaged directly with halal-friendly travel brands, influencers, and specialist trade buyers, while strengthening ties with priority markets including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, and European Muslim source regions. The event also supported long-term market development through alignment with international standards set by the International Halal Tourism Organization.
The Maldives’ presence was further underscored by a high-level visit from the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr Iruthisham Adam, and Deputy High Commissioner Mohamed Ahmed, highlighting the government’s commitment to expanding diplomatic and tourism partnerships in the halal travel market.
Officials noted that the Maldives continues to see strong demand from travellers seeking the premium experiences for which the destination is internationally known.
As the sole organisation representing the Maldives at the exhibition, Visit Maldives Corporation says it remains focused on ensuring the country’s continued prominence within the global halal tourism industry.
