Maldives Ports Limited is carrying out various efforts to upgrade the ferry services provided between Addu City and Fuvahmulah.
Under the efforts, MPL is working to acquire an air-conditioned ferry to provide services between Addu and Fuvahmulah.
In addition, work is also being carried out to establish a cargo ferry service to carry local produces made by farmers in Fuvahmulah to Addu City.
CEO of MPL Mohamed Junaid said that their aim is to upgrade the public transportation service provided in the islands. He said they are now drafting financial and other plans related to upgrading the transportation services of Fuvahmulah and Addu City.
Currently, four speed boats and two ferries are used to provide ferry services between Addu and Fuvahmulah.
MPL is also provides Bus services in these islands.
