18 nominations received for Dhivehi Language Academy Awards

Dhivehi Language Academy on Sunday said 18 nominations have been submitted for the Dhivehi Language Academy Awards.

According to the academy, the award aims to acknowledge individuals and organisations for their contributions to protect and promote the preservation, development and use of the national language Dhivehi. In addition, it also aims to encourage the preservation and promotion of the country’s history and culture.  

The academy said it received 18 nominations for the awards by the deadline, and the awards committee is now reviewing the nominations. It also said the awards would be held annually from this year onwards, and that 20 awards would be conferred in various categories this year.
