Textbooks to be delivered to all schools before new academic year

Minister of Education Dr Ismail Shafeeu has stated that all textbooks will be delivered to schools before the new school year begins.

The textbook dispatch process to the atolls commenced in early December, based on student enrolment numbers for each school. About 60 percent of islands have already received the books, and some schools in Male’ have also begun distributing them.

According to the Minister, there are challenges in dispatching the books due to storage space issues and port logistics, causing delays. This includes the relocation of books from the Arabiyya School building to Aminiya School, and ongoing construction at the Male’ North Harbour. Despite this, all books will be delivered to schools before the new academic year commences, the Minister assured.

The Minister further said preparations for school reopening are progressing well, including book distribution, school repairs, and teacher recruitment.
