Disability Award to be presented later this month

Ministry of Gender and Family said on Monday this year’s Disability Award ceremony would be held later this month.

Minister of Gender and Family Zeneesha Shaheed said “work is now underway to review nominations and select award recipients.”

The Disability Award is conferred annually by the Ministry of Gender and Family, and the Disability Council in recognition of the work carried out by individuals and organisations to protect and promote the rights of the disabled.

Nominations for the award, which will be conferred in 9 categories this year, were opened on May 18th, and the Ministry said it received 41 nominations by the deadline.

The Disability Award was initiated in 2012.
