Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has signed agreements on Airport Crisis Management with Maldives Police Service (MPS) and the Maldives National Air Traffic Services (MNATS).
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on behalf of the MPS by Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen and on behalf of MACL by Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed. MNATS was represented by its Managing Director, Ibrahim Thoha.
The agreements outline the roles, responsibilities, and procedures for the police and MNATS to enhance the after and security of Velana International Airport (VIA) during emergencies and disasters. The agreement will also enable the police and MNATS to enhance their disaster management capacity, strengthen communication and coordination, and continuously improve operational efficiency.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Commissioner Naveen said the agreement will further strengthen cooperation with MACL and ensure the safety of all airport users. MACL CEO Shareef highlighted the significance of the MoU for VIA, describing the airport as a vital facility for the country. He added that preparedness for emergencies requires strong collaboration between relevant institutions.
