President renames Aviation Security Command to Aviation and Port Security Command

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially renamed the Aviation Security Command, a division under the Ministry of Defence, as the Aviation and Port Security Command. The change was formalised on Sunday through Directive No. 20/2025.

The move aims to consolidate oversight of all ports under a single government agency and strengthen security systems for port facilities and international seaports, in line with established port security guidelines.

Government correspondence relating to the newly named command will continue to use the existing reference number, 453, previously assigned to the Aviation Security Command.
