The Urban Primary Health Care Centre in Maafannu ward in Male’ city has launched comprehensive child health services as part of the government’s initiative to bring essential healthcare closer to urban communities.
Since its inauguration on 19 November last year—the first of its kind in the city—the centre has been enhancing access to vital medical programmes.
Key child health services now include growth monitoring, vaccinations, vitamin A supplementation, and deworming. Vitamin A and deworming services are available Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, while growth monitoring is offered every Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Vaccination services are scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm, and on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the same hours as vitamin supplementation. The centre also provides infant and young child feeding counseling to support healthy development. Additionally, travel vaccinations are now available by appointment.
Alongside general practitioner visits and specialist consultations, the centre serves as a hub for national disease prevention and public health promotion programmes, marking a significant advancement in accessible, community-based healthcare.
