The new Customs office building at Maafaru, Noonu Atoll, has been inaugurated. The building was opened by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan.
The construction is part of the government’s policy to decentralise and expand customs services in the atolls. The new building will provide full customs services for passengers and goods arriving at Maafaru, especially supporting the high-end resorts in Noonu Atoll, and facilitating faster documentation and release of imported goods.
With the increasing number of flights at Maafaru International Airport, the new building will play a crucial role in handling passengers and cargo efficiently. The 6,557-square-foot building, constructed at a cost of USD 561,698, includes office space for 20 officers, accommodation for 25 officers, and a meeting room.
