Maldivian who died after being hit by a train in Sri Lanka has been laid to rest on Saturday. The deceased, identified as 22-year-old Izham Ahmed, was a student of Faculty of Shariah and Law of the Maldives National University (MNU), it said in a tweet.
Izham was laid to rest at the Jawatta Jumma Mosque & Muslim General Burial Grounds, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said citing officials from the Maldivian High Commission in Sri Lanka.
Minister-Counsellor at the High Commission Khadheejaa Najeehaa earlier told PSM News that the cause of the incident was unclear and that authorities were investigating the death. Najeehaa further said the High Commission was in contact with the family of the deceased, and that they provided assistance to the investigation.
The incident happened on the rail track between Bambalapitiya and Milagiriya, Colombo.
