Minister Shiyam Reaffirms Commitment to Resolving Fishermen's Concerns

At the Fishermen’s Forum commemorating National Fishermen’s Day, Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam has reiterated that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s manifesto has been designed to comprehensively address long-standing grievances within the fishing industry.

Speaking directly to the fishing community during the forum held in Dhuvaafaru, Raa Atoll, Minister Shiyam acknowledged persistent challenges but affirmed that the manifesto, guided by national priorities, aims to address all issues plaguing the fisheries sector.

Highlighting the government’s track record, the Minister emphasised that significant efforts over the past two years have already tackled numerous concerns, with ongoing initiatives focused on modernising and developing the industry.

While noting there are many issues still to be resolved, Minister Shiyam pledged continuous collaboration with fishermen to identify and work towards solutions.
