Construction has commenced on the new Gadhdhoo Hospital.
The practical work was inaugurated by Minister of Health Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim at a ceremony held in Gadhdhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
The project includes the development of a 30-bed, two-storey health facility, a one-storey service block, and a two-storey accommodation block. The project, awarded to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), is scheduled for completion within 600 days at a cost of USD 6.6 million.
With a population of about 2,700, health services are currently provided in Gadhdhoo from the island’s health centre. The new hospital is expected to significantly expand healthcare services on the island.
