Project to build dredger for MTCC begins

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Tuesday said the project to build a dredger for the company begins in China.

The work to build the dredger was contracted to Netherlands-based IHC Company.

MTCC said, the 92m long 16m wide dredger, will have the capacity to carry 3,700 cubic meters of sand and dredge from 50m deep areas.

CEO of MTCC Ibrahim Ziyath said building work of the dredger, named “Maha Jahraafaa”, is expected to be completed in December.

The dredger will undergo test runs and is expected to be delivered in March 2017.
