The Maldives' national direction is fundamentally built upon the crucial goal of establishing an inclusive society, First Lady Sajidha Mohamed declared on Tuesday while speaking at a ceremony celebrating employment opportunities for people with special needs.
The event marked the successful provision of roles to 30 individuals with special needs by the state-owned Housing Development Corporation (HDC), a move the First Lady stated grants them the long-awaited opportunity to earn an income through their personal efforts.
She attributed this significant step toward job creation to the current administration's inclusive policies, noting that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has placed special priority on ensuring that people with special needs are fully integrated into the workforce, a commitment she believes will bring significant positive change to their lives.
Recognising the diverse skills and educational qualifications of the new recruits, First Lady concluded by urging HDC’s staff and management to actively provide encouragement to their newly onboarded colleagues.
