Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF)’s Coast Guard vessel, Huravee, has travelled to Sri Lanka on its first official overseas voyage to participate in an event marking the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lankan Navy.
During the visit, the vessel also participated in the International Fleet Review held in Colombo on 30 November. As part of the event, MNDF personnel took part in parades, outreach activities, and professional naval exchanges. The opportunity to tour the vessel was also opened as a public engagement activity.
Sri Lankan Navy Commander Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda visited the vessel and met its Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Nafiu, and the crew. The vessel conveyed to the Sri Lankan government that the ship stands ready to assist Sri Lanka with humanitarian and disaster relief in the wake of Cyclone Ditwah.
The visit underscores the close ties between the Maldives and Sri Lanka and their shared commitment to maritime security in the Indian Ocean.
