Home Ministry on Monday said work is underway to draw up a list of areas for conducting protests and political gatherings.
As per the Second Amendment to the Freedom of Peaceful Assembly Act, the Home Ministry is mandated with drawing up of the list within 30 days of ratification of the law.
The amendment requires, except for listed areas by the Home Ministry, prior written approval from Maldives Police Service for conducting gatherings around Malé.
The Home Ministry said it is currently in discussion with relevant authorities on drawing up the list, including discussions with the security forces and independent institutions.
