Maldives Condemns Israel’s Flagrant Ceasefire Violations, Continued Aggression in Gaza

The Maldives government has strongly condemned the recent aggressive attacks carried out by the Israeli occupation forces in Gaza, resulting in the tragic loss of innocent civilian lives, which it described as a grave breach of the established ceasefire agreement.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement on Friday, reaffirmed Maldives’ unwavering support for the Palestinian people and called upon the international community to act urgently and decisively to end the ongoing atrocities committed by Israel and to ensure full and immediate adherence to the ceasefire agreement.

“The Maldives further expresses deep concern that Israel’s continued actions risk amounting to the systematic displacement of the Palestinian population,” the statement said.

The statement also reiterated Maldives’ steadfast support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self determination, and the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its Capital.

Israel has carried out repeated strikes against what it says are Hamas targets during the ceasefire which came into effect on 10 October, and there have also been multiple deadly incidents of its forces firing on people approaching or crossing the Yellow Line.

According to the health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza, 312 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the truce took hold.
