National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) last week held a disaster risk reduction workshop targeting Maamendhoo and Vaamah of Laamu Atoll.
According to NDMC, the five-day workshop focused on management of disasters at an island-level, improving cooperation between the residents and staff of government offices, and formulating disaster management plans.
The workshop was attended by 42 officials from government offices in both islands.
According to NMDC, the final day of the workshop saw a mock disaster drill to test the level of disaster preparedness of the participants.
