President Dr Mohamed Muizzu marked Republic Day with a statement pledging his administration’s unwavering commitment to securing a future defined by prosperity, civilisational progress, and national pride.
The annual observance, held on 11 November, commemorates the founding of the Second Republic of the Maldives. This year’s celebration marks 57 years since the republic’s establishment, a milestone that served as the backdrop for the president’s message.
In a post shared via social media, President Muizzu extended heartfelt greetings to the people and offered prayers for the nation’s continued success. “I present sincere greetings and good wishes to the beloved people of the Maldives on the occasion of Republic Day, offering prayers for this cherished nation to forever remain in a state of success and prosperity,” he wrote.
His statement underscored a central promise: to foster a future in which Maldivians would take pride in the country’s level of development and civilisation. Framing his administration’s mission as a sincere national endeavour, the president described it as a path shaped by the aspirations of the citizenry.
“In this endeavour initiated by this government to secure the Maldives for its people and realise the objectives desired by the citizenry, we shall proceed with unwavering sincerity, while seeking assistance and guidance from Almighty Allah,” he posted. That pledge was reinforced by a guarantee that the nation would witness “bright days of advancement and civilisation”, a vision he positioned as both strategic and moral in nature.
Alongside his developmental agenda, President Muizzu expressed gratitude to the Maldivian people for their unity and cooperation. “While extending profound gratitude for the collective strength and cooperation of the Maldivian citizenry, I offer my complete assurance that, God willing, we will secure a future for this nation marked by shining days of civilisation and development, days that the Maldivian people will view with pride,” he wrote.
The First Lady, Sajidha Mohamed, also marked the occasion with a message shared via social media. “I extend sincere greetings and heartfelt wishes for Republic Day to the beloved people of the Maldives, while offering prayers that a friendly, unified, and prosperous society may forever endure within this beloved nation,” she wrote.
