The Football Association of Maldives (FAM), with full backing from the government, is set to host the Palestine under-17 national football team for a critical training camp, offering comprehensive support as the squad readies for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup Qualifiers.
The initiative follows a formal request from the Palestine Football Association, which sought urgent assistance after escalating conflict and occupation by the Israeli forces rendered domestic training untenable. Unable to operate within Palestine due to the state of war and systemic obstruction, the team is scheduled to arrive in Malé on 10 November and remain until 19 November.
In a statement issued by the FAM, officials confirmed that the government of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assumed full responsibility for the visiting delegation’s expenses, including accommodation, transport, and access to training facilities. The arrangement reflects a broader commitment to supporting Palestinian athletes during a period of acute humanitarian crisis.
As part of the camp’s programme, the Palestine U-17 team will play two friendly fixtures against the Maldives U-17 national side. Both matches are scheduled to take place at the National Football Stadium on 13 and 15 November.
To complement the logistical support, the FAM has introduced a limited-edition souvenir ticket initiative, with all proceeds directed to the Palestine team. The tickets are available in two categories: Souvenir Platinum, priced at USD 64.86, offers seating at the VVIP Rostrum, with only 50 tickets available; Souvenir Gold, priced at USD 32.43, includes VIP seating, with 200 tickets on offer.
The fundraising mechanism provides supporters with a structured means of contributing to the team’s operational and training needs. FAM officials highlighted that all revenue from ticket sales will be donated in full to the visiting delegation.
